Orienteering

 

Orienteering is a great way to combine outdoor competition with map reading and navigation skills. Organised by Top End Orienteers, we are especially keen for participants from other sports to add this fun navigation sport to their timetable. Newcomers to orienteering will be able to complete these events and instructions and coaching will be available prior to commencement. There are no membership requirements for competing. The foot and night orienteering competitions will be solo events, but the mountain bike orienteering may be completed solo or in pairs.

Male pairs categories can include mixed gender teams as there is no separate mixed category offered at this stage.

Events

• Sunday 11 8.30am: Sprint Foot Orienteering, location tbc
• Monday 12 4.30pm: Mountain Bike Orienteering, Alice Springs Telegraph Station Historical Reserve, Herbert Heritage Drive
• Wednesday 14 7.30am: Bush Foot Orienteering, Alice Springs Telegraph Station Historical Reserve, Herbert Heritage Drive
• Wednesday 14 7pm: Night Foot Orienteering, Alice Springs Golf Club

Classes

Foot events are for solo entrants, Mountain Bike event can be solo or pair. Male pairs can include mixed gender pairs as currently there are no separate mixed categories offered.
